Spade Horsemanship is proud to introduce “Big Red”, a 15.3 hh Sorrel GRADE Quarter Horse Mare, from their Program!
This Mare is BIG, She is built like a tank, solid hooves, and a personality to match! She loves attention but knows her size!... (read more) We got her as a pushy mare who had gotten away with everything! She sat over the winter and prior to that she was a trail horse for 4 years and started on barrels last year in 2023.
Good with sirens, trucks, cars, semis, does not spook, rides off quiet and very nice. Can and will ignore horses as they pass by. Good with dogs, kids, tying, feet, trailering, does not spook at birds, dogs, lawn mowers ect. Will ride off alone.
Very smooth W/T/C. Will run when asked, very quick response. Good on her feet. Stays collected. Hard to catch in pasture when she doesn't want to be caught. Needs an owner that knows how to push back and remind her they are the boss and she won't cause an issue. Would be great with almost anyone, as long as they are experienced and know how to get after a horse if they test you and try to walk all over you. Doesn't like to take the bit at first but will give in pretty quickly. Will continue to work on that! Very soft on the mouth. Lunges well.

Groundwork intact, and will lead comfortably and follow your movements. She stays very in tune to what you do. Would be an amazing liberty horse, barrel prospect, team penning, trail horse, 4H horse for an Experienced teen, cow horse, and ranch work! She could go anywhere! Has ridden 7 miles in the past day and was ready for more!
She was put through our refresher course and is VERY SMART! She learns quickly and wants to please.
Will continue to work her and price Will go up. Will be starting roping with her this
