Additional Comments
Baxter is an approx 20 yo 16 hand Appaloosa gelding w some serious bone density. Possible he has some sorta Drafty breed in him.
This won’t be an easy one to say “see you later” to for his owner. Any negativity will immediately be addressed. Any pics/videos will be on my personal profile (Lexi Beauchesne) in an album w his name on it. If it isn’t there, we do not have the video yet.
Baxter came to me in 2018 as a sales horse after spending a lot of time as a lesson and camp horse.... (read more) He was very quickly a barn favorite and one of my best beginner safe lesson horses. He was sold to an awesome family (clients) very quickly, I want to say around the end of 2018, to be a family horse for two young boys in 4h and a mom that adored cantering through the fields at their family farm. Sadly, they could no longer keep him and he was sold to his current owner (my cousin) in May of 2022. She had fallen in love w Baxter when he had first come to my barn so she jumped on the chance to have him as her own. Baxter has just been an all around; English/Western, hit the trails, love on in the field kinda horse from them until now. Sadly, she can no longer afford to keep him so he needs to find himself a new person. Baxter will walk/trot/jog to die for/canter and even jump. Great on the trails and in the open fields for a nice gallop. This guy enjoys the in/out situation of living but is happy to be stalled in bad weather as well at the facility he’s currently at. He is UTD on all 2024 vaccinations, Coggins, deworming and dental. Currently barefoot and doing well but has had shoes intermittently in the past when he was here in rock heaven NH. Has always been good to be clipped, bathed, lunged, blanketed and will load/haul great. Baxter DOES make ugly faces when girthed up…but has never been one to bite. (Physical issues ruled out) I have always assumed he’s been girthed up too tight and too fast in the past at the programs he was in and because he doesn’t do anything nasty, I’ve always just let it be and girthed him a hole at a time. (Ya know…how it should be) He will straight tie and cross tie, stands tied to the trailer at shows and settles into new places pretty easily. Gets along w others, respects fencing (solid or electric) and is easy to catch and love on. Baxter DOES require someone w some knowledge on keeping weight on picky eater types of horses. For me personally, this was never an issue but it has been in the past and a bit more recently. Again, everything physical (blood work, teeth, you name it) has been ruled out…he truly is a picky eater! Outside of this, he doesn’t have any real vices. He can be a little forward under saddle at times if you’re hanging on like a vice grip but has NO buck/rear/bolt.
Baxter is available for a FREE LEASE, be it on farm or off. Currently located in Townsend Ma. PM for more info and I can put you in touch w his owner.
