Stormy Night
Born June 1st of 2018
Grade 7 Year old Miniature Mare

Stormy is not a kids pony. She is smart and will do what’s asked of her but is testy. A beautiful red chestnut with blue eyes and all the attitude of a full sized mare. Once she’s in a halter she listens and minds very well but it’s catching her in the field where she can be a butt head.... (read more) She will nip at a person if she’s not in the mood to be messed with. In prior years she has kicked before but it has been well over a year since she last tried that. She has never been lame and has only been sick once (she had one small round of colic last year. Nothing major and she came right back out of it with a bit of bute!) She stays fit one hay and when muscled up and working looks great with just a half a scoop of feed a day.
She has a good bit of training - she will lunge and is ground broke to pull a cart. She has had weight on her back when she was younger and didn’t really mind but is a bit too dainty for riding. She stands for the farrier, can be wormed, very well halter broke, and is desensitized to ropes and most sounds.
Stormy is the perfect fit for an older kid wanting to drive. Anyone who has been taught to read a horse’s body language and isn’t scared of them can work with her without issue.
Stormy is a proven and successful broodmare! She raised a perfect little colt who is now a year and a half old and has been running with the same stallion. There is a very good chance she is bred back. Stormy was a very protective and defnesive first time mother but since raising her son has chilled out a lot.
If worked with every day by a dedicated person Stormy bonds very loyally. I have raised her since the day she was born and I PERSONALLY have never had an issue with her. She respects and listens to me without issues. She is a confident pony - anything I’ve ever tried to teach her she learned in a week tops. The first time she was ever hauled it was in the back of a van and with time and encouragement she loaded herself, up a ramp, and into van.
This mini has the ability and potential to be a wonderful show mare for someone willing to commit to her or keep raising great foals out of her. In a round pen she has incredible gaits and a natural sliding stop to change direction. Her grandmother was a phenomenal In-Hand Showjumper and she come from registered lines. I do have a cart that can go along with her!

Happy to have anyone come and meet her on the weekends or later in the afternoons!!!
I have a lot of pictures and videos of her!

Blackwater Ranch
Blackwater Ranch is the name of my small horse breeding ranch. I plan to focus on primarily stock breeds though I'm just getting started again after taking a few years away from horses to go to college! Currently I have a lovely foundation bred Quarter Horse mare - Dee Frontier Flower (aka Starlight) - who will be helping me get back into the breeding world! My facilities are small at the moment and I will be focused more on my private ventures than public works at the moment.... (read more)
With any luck this spring Starlight will progress nicely into some light riding and simple shows and be bred to a local Foundation stallion I've had my eye on for some time now. Depending on how she handles getting back in the saddle I may offer basic lessons with her for younger students though that is completely dependent on her. If you're interested in these potential lessons please feel free to contact me!
