Introducing Moose! He’s a 17 Hand Silver Dapple Percheron/Belgian Cross who RIDES & DRIVES. Moose is certainly big, but don’t let that scare you he’s a gentle giant.... (read more) He’s easy to handle and has a quiet calm nature. He knows the pick me up cue and will sidle over to any object or mounting block to pick you up. He also has been taught the lay down cue.
He drives both single and double, however we don’t have a teammate for him currently so he’s mostly single, but looking for the perfect match he’s not fussy he’ll take a mare or another gelding. He stands good for hitching, unhitching, stop signs, getting on and off the cart. He’s very easy on the lines and controllable you can drive one handed. He’s very flexible in the cart and will side pass over to make sharp turns. He’s fine with the traffic it doesn’t bother him at all. Drives wherever you point him. Knows the words whoa, easy, walk on, trot, and back. If you give him a voice command you don’t even have to use the reins that’s how controllable he is in the cart. If you kiss to him he’ll even pop into a little canter in the cart if you want.
For riding he stands great for mounting/tacking. He is more whoa than go, but he has stamina and can go for longer rides we’ve taken him ten miles or so and he handles it just fine. He just prefers to take it slow if he can, but he will move out and do whatever you ask. He has an easy to sit to lope and a nice smooth trot as well. You can sit to his slow trot or easily post to his medium paced trot he has very smooth gaits and transitions.
He knows how to move off of the leg and ride off of your seat. He will pop right into a canter from a walk if you ask and stops as soon as you take your legs off. He side passes great in the cart and just starting to catch side passing under saddle.
He has some ranching experience he’s been used to rope a few cows for doctoring. So he’s fine with having a rope thrown off of him and holding a cow for you. He knows how to hobble. He’s also been used to pony a string of horses.
Moose just has that quiet, kind, laid back, gentle draft type attitude he’s very easy to get along with. He’s friendly comes right up to you out in the pasture whether you want him or not. He gets along with the other horses in his pasture NOT bossy at all. Stands just fine for the Ferrier. Loads right in the trailer and backs right out. Easy to haul quiet in the trailer. Fly sprays and hoses down. NO bad habits or vices. He’s an easy keeper. Normally he’s a dark chocolatey color, but in the heat of the summer he goes more to a lighter chocolate.
Crosses bridges, creeks, rivers, and he’ll even swim a little if you can get him in deep enough where his feet don’t touch the bottom. Most spots where the other horses have to swim he can just walk across. He rides double as well. NOT easily spooked. He’s pretty easy to get along with has a willing to please attitude. He comes up to date on Ferrier, vet, shots, wormings, and Coggins. You can come see him in person or if you need shipping that’s not an issue we know a couple of good transporters. Just call if you have any questions our phone number
The carriage that Moose is pulling in his pics and video is being offered here as well. The auction for the carriage closes immediately following the close of Moose's auction.
