Leia (as in Princess) is a gorgeous 6-year-old mare. She is sensitive but has a good brain and the sweetest face. “New copper penny” chestnut with a pretty diamond on her forehead.
Her family had to move north, so we are helping find her the best home.
Knows extensive ground work from natural horsemanship. Loads well, not buddy sour. Wants someone she can trust - desires a relationship before she gives her heart to you, because once she gives her heart, she is all in.... (read more)
Came to her previous owners trained from the coast of South Carolina, but they sent her for a 30 day refresher with Wild Roots horsemanship ($1500 worth of training right there) and she did really great there, going out on trails by herself. Her teeth were done a couple months ago and then she’s gotten her feet done every six weeks. Easy keeper. She’s still young, sensitive, and very responsive, and therefore not for a beginner.
The disclaimers (because we try to be as honest as possible).
1. She takes a minute to catch if she doesn’t know you and is in with another horse that plays hard to get. Not bad, but it takes just a couple minutes. Her trainer walked up to her no problem because she knew and trusted her.
2. She has minor tension/anxiety at the mounting block when being mounted by someone she doesn’t know. She is better from the ground. She stands still, but braces by lifting her head. Not sure if she had someone just plop on in the past, but again with a trusted person, that will go away.
She just desperately wants her own safe person, and that person will have a heart horse.
