Toby is a striking sorrel and white tobiano 16 hand TWH/SSH/NSSH gelding who will take you down the trail in style! Smooth, consistent natural four-beat running walk and a comfortable flat walk you can enjoy all day. With lots of hauling/camping/trail time throughout the southeast, he has seen it all and is an experienced, trustworthy partner.
Toby is the most athletic and surefooted horse I’ve owned. He’s always willing to take you confidently wherever you want to go- water, bridges, logs, rough footing, tight places, up and down mountains.... (read more) Will ride out alone or in a group, front or back. He stays aware of his surroundings but is not spooky. He’s Mr. Congeniality- always gets along well with other horses (and around dogs, too)- no bite, kick or even a bad look.
And Toby will go the distance! At 16, he defies his age with energy and enthusiasm for the trail all day, and with his long stride, he will cover some ground. Just set the cruise control and you don’t have to ask again. He can be forward at times, so not suited for a beginner or timid rider. A lot of go, but always under control. Responsive in the saddle to your leg, seat and hand cues. Good stop, turn, back and side pass. Toby is just plain fun to ride!
Toby has excellent ground manners, stands quietly, loads quickly every time. Extremely healthy and sound all around, easy for the vet and farrier. Solid feet- I’ve kept him barefoot and use trail boots when needed. Happy in stall or pasture, no bug allergies. Vaccinated, floated and dewormed on schedule. One owner for last six years.
