Luna is an absolutely beautiful 5-year-old quarter horse mare, standing at 14.1hh tall. She's built strong, stout and compact, with long mane and tail. She's got kind eyes and a very sweet demeanor and is the first one to meet you at the gate.
Although she is only 5, she has an old soul and takes what you put in front of her in stride with a maturity far beyond her years. Luna has been trail ridden all over the place in different places and different terrain, and does great out by herself and also with others.... (read more) She's a mountain goat in rocky country, will cross bridges and swim through rivers. She is quiet but quick-footed, incredibly smart, and really aims to please in whatever you ask of her. She is gentle but athletic and honest, not spooky.
Luna has spent quite some time in the arena and will walk, trot, canter, side pass, change leads, back up, and is starting to spin nicely. She is a very fast learner and picks up whatever you are asking for in a hurry. She has tracked, roped and dragged the roping dummy and would make an outstanding heel horse, being the perfect size with the athleticism and stocky build you'd need. She has helped gather, work and push cows, has been in the sorting alley & pen, and is showing a lot of desire to want to work cows and will track & cut them off naturally. She would make an outstanding sorting and team penning horse. Luna has also been started on the barrel pattern and shows a lot of promise there with her quick turns & speed.
Luna has had beginners on her and done great with them, she's gentle with kids and goes where you point her. She ties, stands to bathe, will load in the trailer, stands for the farrier, etc. She will take care of a beginner and be a great horse to build confidence on, but she'd also be suited for someone ready to take her to the roping/sorting/teampenning competition and do really well on her.
Luna's sire is Cowboy Candywood, a cowhorse/working ranch stud, her dam is out of a line of working cowhorses. Unfortunately, upon the passing of Luna's dam's owner, her dam's papers were lost and consequently Luna wasn't able to be registered as AQHA despite having some great names on her papers. Because of this she sells grade. Fortunately this won't affect entering her in sorting/penning/roping/barrel racing competitions.
