STOP! Make sure you check him out he’s the REAL DEAL you don’t find a horse like him very often. And I normally don’t let a horse go like this so read his full bio and watch his full video because he’s a rare find and you are not going to want to miss out on him!... (read more)
GRM Black Label is his registered name. We just call him Black. Black sticks at 15 hands. He’s a registered Morgan out of the old style hard to find bloodlines with Flyhawk right on his pedigree. So for you Morgan lovers this guy is high foundation breeding he’s 98% by the math and if you aren’t a Morgan enthusiast you will be after owning Black.
Black both RIDES & DRIVES!
We’ll start with the driving. He stands to hitch, unhitch, mount/dismount from the cart, and at stop signs and lights. He knows how to read stop signs as he’ll start slowing down anytime he sees that red octagon shape. He’s easy to handle and he’s fine with the traffic. And he’s NOT easily spooked. I have no complaints with his driving or riding abilities whatsoever. NO bad habits or vices.
For riding he stands good for mounting/dismounting. He rides away from home alone, will separate out on the trail, and can be in the back, middle, or front. Crosses any kind of water or bridges. Goes through the muck just fine and tackles the steep hills like a champ.
Stands good for the farrier and for tacking. Loads right in the trailer and backs right out. Quiet in the trailer. Fine with fly spray and getting hosed down. Used to wildlife nothing really seems to phase him. He just DOES NOT spook easily. He has ponied a string of horses and he knows how to hobble too.
His canter is amazing it’s a nice little rocking chair lope and he’ll do it all day for you if you so desire. He knows his leg cues. Knows how to hobble. He’ll catch you out in the pasture. He’s a horse that has personality and if you know Morgans yes he’s one of those Morgans that really loves to be with people. Gets along out in the pasture he’s somewhere in the low to middle of the pecking order.
Story time… I let Black sit out on pasture for about 2 months didn’t work him at all. I pulled him out away from his buddies who ran back and forth crying for him and he just ignored them all and stood ground tied while I tacked him up. Then I took him out by himself down the road 6 miles with all sorts of traffic going by and he never offered to do anything crazy he was the same horse as when I put him out on pasture 2 months ago. And most young horses I would never do that with, but Black is an exception.
Very good with traffic he’s had atvs, motorcycles, loud trucks, and even traffic you wouldn’t run into every day such as… he had a car pass him with their dog straining out the window barking/growling at him… he’s also had a car squeal their tires right behind him… and he’s been down in the river with tubers floating by. So he is excellent with all sorts of weird crazy traffic.
He’s also safe enough that he was being used as the kids school bus back and forth to school for a couple of weeks. You’ll also get to see in the video how he does with guns being shot off his back and keep in mind that’s the first time we ever did that with him. In the video you’ll also watch Black giving a beginner rides in the arena and you can see how patient and quiet he is. That beginner was able to sit Black’s canter after just a couple laps/trys that’s how smooth Black’s canter is. So he can easily teach a new rider how to sit to a canter because there’s really not much you have to do.
The main thing with Black is that he’s enjoyable for everyone. He can be simple and patient with a new rider, but he does have the cues and will preform for someone that has more experience. So he’s a good mix and takes care of his rider. And he’s NOT an overreactive horse. For example we can be walking down the trail while I’m using a branch to swat flies off of him around his head or butt area and he will stay walking. He also will stay standing still if you mount and accidentally kick him in the flanks he doesn’t walk off until you ask him.
He sticks at 15 hands, but he’s not hard at all to swing up in the saddle if you are short like me. However if you need a mounting block he knows the pick me up cue and will sidle over to you for mounting. He has carried a 6’ tall guy on his back and did a days work with no problems so he can carry a taller rider too. He can also pull a full cart without issues. Morgans don’t get enough credit for their endurance and hardiness.
If I could only pick one horse breed to have it would be a Morgan because of their endurance, the brains, and especially the personality. I have never had a smarter, friendlier, or handier horse than a Morgan and I’ve had a few different types.
Now he’s not just any horse without a story we know Black’s entire history. His story starts out on a ranch in Nebraska out on the free ranges as a colt. As soon as he was old enough he packed up his bags and moved to Michigan looking for love, but he never found his love and was gelded as a 2 year. I know sad tale, but then he decided to try his hoof at the carriage business and did such an excellent job he decided to move onto bigger things and become a cowboy and chased a few cows. But then cows are boring so he started to explore a little more and became a trail master. Kind enough to carry his poor lazy humans on his back along the trails up and down those hills, over those bridges, and across the waters. And I know what you’re thinking what else could he do to top all of that? Well, he decided to go into movies and become a star; the video you’ll see today is his first production. He’s a bit of a ham likes to hog the spotlight probably won’t even give me any credit at the end of his film, but that’s his whole life’s story shortened into one paragraph.
I could go on all day about how much I love this horse, but I have to make myself cut it short. Watch his videos, take a gander at his paperwork and bloodlines, and if you have any more questions just give me a call. I know a few horse transporters if you need delivery that’s not a problem. He’s up to date on Coggins, wormings, shots, and Ferrier. He does have a brand on his hip and he does have a small scar that is only superficial on the back left leg he got it from a rope burn it doesn’t bother him its only superficial and that is the only thing I can call on this horse. If he sells hoping he goes to a great home with another Morgan enthusiast, but like I said if you have never owned a Morgan you will never go back after owning Black. He is the definition of what they were going for when the started the Morgan breed.
I’ll leave off with one last statement… He’s a one of a kind don’t miss out… just call if you have any questions our phone number
