Additional Comments
Wisdom Tree’s Atlas Rising (barn name: Atlas) is a 6-week old black blagdon colt that will be looking for a special home once weaned. He is conformationally correct and has the desired Gypsy Vanner type. He is muscular and developing nicely. He is compact and has a nice, smooth gait. While he is healthy and developing normally, he had a very rough start in life. Atlas will require a person who understands that he will need a bit of extra time to gain trust and confidence.... (read more) He would be a wonderful project for someone looking for a well-bred, correct Gypsy Vanner gelding with lots of potential at low budget pricing. He was born with a ruptured inguinal hernia which was surgically repaired by equine specialists at the University of Iowa hours after he was born. During his surgery, he required gelding in order to repair his hernia. All of his specialists have been very impressed with his recovery, sending him home over a week earlier than expected. We have been told by many veterinarians that he will have no residual effects or restrictions and will make a nice riding gelding. Because he had so much medical intervention in the first weeks of his life, he is shy and a bit skittish as he has been poked, prodded, and had medication put down his throat instead of being completely nurtured by people. He is growing in confidence and will be fine with time and loving care. Atlas will be weaned in early fall and can leave the farm afterwards. Upon leaving, he will be well versed in his baby manners. Current on vaccinations. I truly hate to part with little guy, as I love his fighting spirit and black coloration. Complete medical records will be provided. Price is firm.
