Peves Waldo “Waldo” is a 2014 large bay QH gelding. His papers include Special Effort, First Down Dash & Dash for Cash. This guy is bred for athleticism & speed. Waldo had a short career on the track in Kentucky. After that, he was brought up to Minnesota to be started on barrels as a 3 year old. Waldo was started slow and correct. He recently spent April and May 2024 for a training tune up with Rocky Christenson out of Ham Lake, Minnesota.... (read more) In 2021, he spent three months for a training tune up with Derek Diedrich.

At 16H, Waldo is as big of a puppy dog as there can be. He is always the first to greet you at the gate, loves attention in the pasture, and will follow you around everywhere. Waldo is as sweet as they come. Waldo’s party trick: he smiles for treats. ?
Waldo is trained CORRECT. He is as beautifully trained and diverse as they come. Get his head collected under for a slow & steady ride, then turn around and run a pattern on him. He is level-headed and calm. Has been lightly started on poles, and would make a fabulous horse for this! Waldo has been used for lead-line at barrel races. He is the horse that children can groom for hours or get ponied on at home. Has done multiple trail-riding camping weekends. He loves the trails, especially water! Has been trail ridden by beginners. Waldo will cross bridges, go past traffic, etc. Can stand tied out overnight, or also stalls great. Great with other horses, dogs, even peacocks (yes, peacocks).

Waldo trailers wonderfully. Throw him in anything and he will back himself out. He is the horse that helps other horses load and trailer well. Hauls alone or with other horses. A majority of his hauling to barrel races has been done alone - stands tied at trailer alone, warms up by himself, exhibitions by himself, etc. Waldo is great on the road; eats and drinks well while traveling.
Stands great for the farrier. Takes the bridle. No buck. No rear. Tacks up wonderfully. Great for the vet. Has front set on for hauling. Requires general maintenance each year (hock and stifle injections). Easy keeper - mostly just on forage. He is low man on the totem pole in any herd he’s in. Ponies other horses, or great being ponied himself. Let him sit all winter and he rides off the same in the spring for his first ride back. Waldo is SAFE.

Waldo only has one quirk: he has a first barrel sourness that is being worked through. His current owner is not a fit for him. Waldo is 100% 1D potential horse. He has ran beautiful patterns and has had extensive barrel racing training. His current owner has owned him for two years and has hauled him a great amount all over Minnesota, but unfortunately is not a rider fit for Waldo. Waldo needs a confident rider who is not intimidated by his speed. He needs someone that is going to let him work and not nitpick him. If he has that type of mount on his back, he loves to do his job and will do it. Waldo did not have any issues with the two professional trainers he did tune ups with. The owner attended two clinics with Waldo (in which the last clinic in August of 2023), the owner was told it is not Waldo, but his rider by the clinicians. Owner is in full acceptance of this and would like to see him go to a better fit, and does not want to see his potential go to waste.

We can not say enough good things about this guy. He can go 1,000 different directions. Work through his barrels and have a winning barrel horse, keep him going on poles and have a winning pole horse, use him as a youth horse for games, or a weekender-pro for trail riding. He would also make an awesome roping horse. He has slow pleasure buttons. Someone could make him a jumper or knock-up English horse. This guy is as athletic as they come & has the personality to match.
