Bell is a very sweet standardbred mare who has likely been used on the track in the past and then was used as a buggy horse. We're sure she has seen a lot in her life and would be able to tell you all kinds of stories if she could talk. She is extremely laid back and enjoys spending quiet time with people. Bell has an air of calmness about her that you can't help but notice and enjoy. Bell stands great to have her feet picked up and messed with.... (read more) She wasn't the biggest fan of her teeth being done but she has gotten them done! Bell stands tied very well to be groomed and loves to be fly sprayed. Bell is so quiet and calm that we actually used her for a large group of kids to groom a horse for the first time and she just took a big nap.
Bell very easily let us attach some ground driving lines to a surcingle and drive her around with no issues! She understands the word 'woah' very well and stands perfectly while being saddled. If you want a comfortable trail ride then you may turn your nose up at a regular quarter horse after you ride this mare! You could hold a full glass of water while she's trotting and not spill a drop. Because she was driven more than ridden she will need some help to learn cues with a rider under saddle. We have no doubt it will take her little time to learn with a good teacher.
Come on out and give Bell a try, you may not want to leave without her after sitting in the saddle and seeing her calm demeanor!
**We will be taking better photos and getting a riding video of her very soon.**
Nexus Equine
We believe there are times when horses find themselves in at-risk situations and need outside support and resources. As a result, all horses have a specific individually designed program that promotes the highest potential of each horse.... (read more)
The final step in our adoption process is matching the right person with the right horse, creating positive outcomes for the equine community. Horses need resources and support when they are no longer appropriate for current discipline or environment. Nexus provides those option either by putting horses in our adoption and transport programs OR by providing assistance to horse owners with veterinary and farrier care so that horses can remain at home.
Nexus collaborates and partners with other equine organizations, horse and breed associations, national animal welfare organizations and horse enthusiasts on a local and national level to help horses more efficiently and effectively. Our team works hard to help Oklahoma horses—check out recent news coverage, press releases, and social media posts about our efforts in the News Center.
