Fields of Gold is an 8 year old Holstiener gelding standing 16.2 hands high. “Romeo” is a gentle and sweet soul who can do a bit of everything.... (read more) He enjoys dressage, trail riding, and going cross country. He has a true puppy dog personality, good looks, and is a comfortable and slow poke type of ride. He is an easy keeper that lives outside, and is the same if you ride him once a week or every day. Romeo is great off property, a sweetie pie in the barn, and a dream to hack out! I bought him hoping to bring him along as a show horse for myself, but he does not have the upper level scope I was hoping for. We think he would excel as a fox hunter, trail horse, or dressage mount.

In the ring, Romeo is a great mover with three adjustable gaits. He has a soft mouth, great transitions, and is educated in his lateral work. He will easily go on the bit or stretch out on a loose rein. He has his flying changes that will be easy to fine tune, and is a good mix of whoa and go. He has a solid dressage foundation and will be simple to bring up the levels. He jumps a course in the ring, he is green still over fences in the arena, but he has great form and scope. We have jumped him up to 3”6 but doesn’t quite have the athleticism to compete at that level. He would be a great 2”6 type with some more miles and experience.

On the trails, Romeo is the best! He loves to be out of the ring seeing the world. He trail rides quietly on a loose rein or in a halter and lead rope. He is content leading, following, or riding alone. We go off property weekly for trail rides, hunter paces, xc schooling, and for lessons with Romeo. He is used to loading up and going out to see new places and things. He prefers a gentle hand when loading, give him a few minutes to check out the trailer he is about to be loaded in to and he will be just fine.

Cross Country, Romeo is tons of fun. He breezes over BN/N fences and questions. He just started to jump in and out of the water, and is gaining more confidence with every trip to the field. Romeo aims to please and really enjoys going cross country. He is adjustable and honest, and tries his hardest.

In the barn, Romeo is a total love bug. He has an unbeatable personality and sweet nature. He loves people and would probably choose to live in the house with you instead of in the barn. Romeo is polite and loving with everyone, and really enjoys being groomed and getting attention. Romeo gets along well with mares and geldings, and currently lives out with a mixed herd. The farm Romeo came from told us he will crib if stalled. He lives out with a run in here and has never touched a fence in almost the full year we have had him, however I was told he will crib in a stall so take with that what you will.

Romeo is a well rounded young horse that can go in any direction. Finish him out to be a show horse, get him out on the hunt field, or have a gorgeous trail partner to enjoy.
