Meet Bearfoot Legend he’s a 6 year old 1/2 Friesian 1/2 Percheron gelding. He sticks at 16.2 hands tall. He’s a stout horse that can carry a bigger rider with ease.... (read more)
He rides & drives and he’s very easy to get along with. Gets along well out in the herd with mares or geldings he’s in the low to middle pecking order. Easy to catch walks right up to you. Easy keeper on just hay or grass. NO bad habits or vices. Stands excellent for the Ferrier.
For driving he’s very well mannered and very easy on the bit. Drives in a regular snaffle driving bit. Knows the words whoa, easy, back, walk on, and trot. Stands still for tacking, hitching, stop signs, getting on & off the cart! And will stand like a perfect gentleman when tied up.
He’s fine with traffic as you can see in his videos he doesn’t mind big trucks, semis, motorcycles, etc. He’s been driven in bigger cities then the one in the video so he’s very well versed as a carriage horse. He’s one that you can relax behind the lines with. With him I do text & drive don’t tell anyone, but he’s that easy to relax with.
For riding he’s just as good. He stands still for mounting & dismounting. He knows the pick me up cue and will sidle over to any object whether that be a mounting block, log, or rock to come pick you up.
He rides between your legs he knows all his cues. Stops off the seat. Does very well at neck reining. He’s such a perfect gentleman on the ground too he does his yields great and once he’s bonded with you he’ll follow you around like a puppy dog back up when you back up and match you step for step just about.
He’s great for tacking he knows to put his head down for the bridle and will put his nose in the halter. And excellent for the vet. He’s also great about his feet he will hold them up for you as long as you need.
He has been used on cattle and been roped off from. I don’t personally rope with him, but he does have the experience. He was mainly used for calves to doctor them and will head or heel, but he also was used to rope a couple bigger bulls as well and he’ll hold them. So he does have some ranch experience under his cinch as well.
He rides away from home alone all the time. He doesn’t care too much about where the other horses are at. As you’ll see in some of the clips the other horse can trot up from behind him and take off and leave him back in the dust and he’ll keep walking. Or you can have a horse come from the front trotting by and he’ll still stay walking in the direction he’s supposed to. He’ll separate out on the trail away from the other horse as well. He rides front or back it doesn’t matter.
He has smooth gaits. Very easy to sit his canter and his trot is super easy to post to. He’s a very comfortable ride. I’ve taken him 12 miles at a time and I NEVER get sore. So he’s very smooth and he can do the miles for you unlike most drafts that get tired after just a few miles.
He’s more Whoa than go for the most part he’s not in a hurry, but he can pick up his pace and move right out for you. He’s one of the horses that is content to do whatever you want he’s willing to please. So you can walk, trot, or canter the whole ride and he’ll do whatever you ask of him.
Goes right in the water little creeks, lakes, and big rivers. He’s NOT easily spooked. Loads right up in the trailer backs right out hauls EXCELLENT you’ll never hear a peep out of him.
Tackles big steep hills like they are nothing. He has a lot of strength and stamina and will give you all he’s got. He will pony other horses. He also knows how to hobble. He also knows how to lay down however he’s a little new at it yet and just needs more practice.
He has an excellent personality too very kind and gentle. And it doesn’t hurt that he’s handsome he impresses everyone he meets. He has a lot of experience under his cinch and he’s at that perfect age. He has a current Coggins, vet check, and up to date with all vaccines and wormings. If you need shipping it’s no problem I know a couple horse transporters in my area that are excellent or if you can come see him in person and pick him up that works great too!
