Sophia is a 17 year old 100% Friesian mare, registered with the Friesian Blood Horse Registry . She stands 15.2 hh and is 100% sound. She is broke to ride, and possibly to drive, as she comes from an Amish background, but we have not tried to hook her. We purchased Sophia last fall to breed to our homozygous blue roan Percheron stallion, but due to life changes, we have made the decision to sell the stallion. Sophia is somewhat related to our Friesian stallion, and although the consanguinity is not so close to absolutely prohibit breeding them, we would prefer not to.... (read more) Therefore, Sophia is available. (And that is the ONLY reason this mare is up for grabs) Sophia is a daughter of Darth, (Wander 352 x Melle 311) and out of a mare sired by Ludse 305.
Don’t let her age fool you! She neither looks nor acts her age. Sophia is a perfect lady at all times, got for the farrier and vet and well mannered under saddle. I would not say she is appropriate for a total beginner, as she is very upheaded and alert, but a confident advanced beginner should have no worries. Sophia had not been ridden since last October when we hauled her to a show last weekend. I have not been in the show ring for at least ten years. (Or in a horse since I rode this mare last October) We won our walk-trot class. I will say, of the three of us that rode her, none of us could find the canter button. Whether she just chose not to canter, or we didn’t use the correct cue, I can’t say.
Sophia is UTD on vaxx and deworming, and has a current coggins.

We try to have each baby not only halter broke, standing for farrier, and loading in a trailer, wearing a pad and surcingle, as well as crossing cavelliti, crossing a tarp, and standing on and crossing a pedestal, We try to teach them to think about things and to trust their human partners. Our stallion, Vorn MFF is a son of Doaitsen 420, the USEF Friesian sire of the year for 2016, 2017, and 2018. Vorn's mother is a crown mare by Beart 411, the two time driving champion of the Netherlands. Vorn rides and drives. Vorn is also hydro and dwarfism free and five panel negative.. His first foals are on the ground and exceeding all expectations. We have sold babies from coast to coast. Vorn’s get are all very people oriented, athletic and very intelligent.
