Dolly is a handy broke trail machine!! She is a 12 year old 14 hand dappled palomino Missouri Foxtrotter mare. She is gaited and will walk and trot as well. Dolly is well educated and has plenty of buttons. She has a lovely canter too. All you have to do is ask! She has lived with us for 8 years and truly has countless trail miles. She can take the hardest, most technical trails with ease.... (read more) She is surefooted and has trailered all over riding the trail systems in the southeast including the hardest trails at Leatherwood Mountains. Dolly has a true one hand neckrein and rides equally well in a halter, hackamore, bit, or bridleless! I can ride her bridleless just as well as if I had her tacked up. She rides using seat and leg aids as well as neck reining. Dolly can go all day on the trails without tiring. She loves to get up and go, but will also slow down and ride with the quarter horses if asked. She has mostly been my main ride and one true love but my 8 year old son loves to ride her and we have also used her as a guest horse and husband horse as well.
She crosses water very well and we have even enjoyed going swimming with her in local ponds! Dolly has been used extensively for leading my small children on their ponies on mountainous trails as well as riding double and leading green horses in training. She doesn't mind ropes under her tail, knows how to brace against a horse or steer pulling on the saddle horn if needed. She has been used to cruise, push, and rope cattle. She is traffic safe and doesn't mind farm equipment, speeding cars, bicycles, ATVs etc. She is used to dogs and deer jumping from out of the brush. Ride her through the brush, down the trail, or on the paved roads she will go anywhere. She will cross bridges, teeter totters, and will let you open/close gates etc. Dolly is a good jumper and has auto lead changes. You can enjoy arena jumping or we have taken her to Hitcock Woods to do the cross country jumps! She is good with tarps, bicycles, we have even shot guns around her! She rides out well alone or in a group. We have even enjoyed using her for night riding under the stars!
Dolly is a personable horse who truly loves to spend time with humans. She will nicker to you in the pasture, loves to be brushed and braided, and will stand for hours to be hugged and loved on. She comes when called and knows her name. She also knows the verbal commands for no ("eh"), "whoa", and "stay here". She ground ties very well and also stands tied as long as you want. She is excellent for the farrier, and is easy to load in a trailer. She stalls and travels well. She gets along well with all other horses and currently lives out on pasture. She is up to date on vaccines, coggins, hoof trims, dental. Dolly has rock solid feet and has never been shod. I do use scoot boots on her if I ride on pavement or the mountains.
