Meet Roscoe a 6 year old 15.1 hand grade bay Quarter Horse Gelding. Here’s a horse that’s wise beyond his years. This gelding acts like he’s 16 not 6. Don’t let his age turn you away because this gelding is QUIET. Rides with more whoa than go and is a truly beginner safe mount. He’s safe enough for a child, husband, older rider or a brand new rider. Whoever sits on his back he takes care of and can take a joke. He requires leg but not to the point where it’s frustrating.... (read more) Roscoe is a steady eddy type gelding and quite easy to ride. He has a go with the flow attitude and is eager to just do whatever is asked of him. He is well built, with great confirmation, has a nice head and kind eye. A beautiful bay and a great mover. This gelding rides both English and western very well but I think he looks really good in English tack and with him being such a nice mover that helps to.
Roscoe is great in the arena and will go around in circles all day. Walks, trots, canters, knows his leads and will lope right off from a standstill. His gaits are slow, smooth, collected and balanced. Nice stop and rides in a snaffle. He is perfect for teaching riders to canter because he’s not quick and he picks it up so well. We have started him on a lead change and he’s really getting it. It’ll be an auto change in no time. We also introduced him to jumping and he really enjoys that. He’s a horse that could really excel in jumping with very little time and effort. He had been a western horse his whole life but really took to English instantly. He has a true one handed neck rein and will really ride around great in western tack too. Roscoe is an all around kind of horse, I think he can really go do anything you want him to do.
In western tack he has a nice slow jog that’s easy to sit to, lopes right off, backs up effortlessly and has a true two finger neck rein. He’ll ride up and down the road, down the driveway, down the trail and of course around the arena. You can let him sit and he’ll still be the same horse even with time off. Out on the trails he is like a 4 wheeler. Goes wherever you point him with zero hesitation. Rides out alone with no issues and he’s completely road and traffic safe. Not spooky, lookey or nervous. Roscoe is a confident trail horse that’s also beginner and kid safe out on the trails. You can ride him bareback in a halter and lead rope and pony another horse right off of him. There’s not really anything I’d want to change about him. He’s a super nice young gelding with his whole life ahead of him. I know he’s not a buckskin, Paint or grulla but when they’re this good it really doesn’t matter what color they are. Roscoe is 100% sound and requires zero maintenance or supplements. His confirmation is perfect and he has no lumps, bumps or flaws. In your pocket personality with the best ground manners you could ask for. Lives inside or out and is a very easy keeper.
