If you are looking for an easy trail horse with a ton of gait that just about any level of rider can enjoy, Rocket is the girl for you.
Rocket is a 12 year old singlefooter mare. She is registered SHOBA. She is a direct daughter of Rowdy Rawhide’s Rocket, who is a very well known singlefooter stallion, and out of a registered Tennessee Walker mare.
She is a been there, done that girl and a blast to ride. Super solid on the trail.... (read more) Despite the fact that she is bred to have speed to her gaits when asked, she is laid back and easy going. She will just walk along unless asked for more, and she is happy to do a slow gait as well. She is a horse that we can pull out of the field and just go without issues, and we can throw most anyone on her. I consider her to be very reliable and consistent.
She has a ton of gait and can do a smooth flat foot walk, rack and singlefoot. Can also canter too, although I don’t usually canter her because she has so many gears to her gait. She’s a very fun and comfortable ride. She has a bunch of different speeds. Can plod along in a casual walk with a quarter horse, hold pace with your average gaited horse, or really cruise along depending on what you ask her to do.
She stands a sold 15 hands and is built to the hilt. She is one thick girl. There is nothing skinny or slender about this mare’s build. She has one of the best builds I’ve seen on a gaited horse. Size 1 shoe. (Her mane does grow out nice, it was just cut within the last year.)
She surefooted in the mountains, and not a reactive mare. Takes her time going down hills, and is thoughtful about how she places her feet. We primarily use her out on the trail, although she does great in an arena too.
She is friendly and easy to handle. I have her out in a herd of horses and she gets along well with others well.
She has also been bred before. I would be willing to sell her bred or open. She is currently open, meaning not in foal.
She is the kind of mare that everyone wants to find for their family and friends to enjoy. She’s the horse that can move out and have tons of gears to her gait when asked, or the horse that can kick back and just walk along. A real gem.
