Lucky is a fun, friendly, smooth-gaited gelding. He is an uncomplicated ride, but still has lots of spunk and personality. He is brave, tough, and a very sure-footed and experienced trail horse.
The good:
Lucky is VERY experienced taking beginners out on trail rides. I have used him to give guided tours to all kinds of guests staying at our ranch, and he takes good care of all levels of riders. Ideal as a safe "husband horse" or beginner's horse.... (read more)
He is gaited, making him a very smooth and comfortable ride. Perfect for anyone with back pain, or just wanting a smoother ride.
He doesn't buck, bite, or kick. He is an easy keeper, stands well for the farrier, and has HARD bare feet! Although he isn't tall, he has comfortably carried riders up to 200lbs.
Rides well in a simple snaffle, a hackamore, or even a rope halter.
The bad:
Lucky is tricky to keep in a big herd. He is super friendly with people, but picks on less-dominant horses. I think he would do well with a bigger or more dominant horse as a pasture mate. He is not a good fit for pasturing with frail, older horses (and we have several of these!)
The details:
Lucky was a rescue, and is not registered, so his age and breed are just an educated guess. He is definitely gaited. To the best of my knowledge he is healthy and has no injuries or issues -- you are ALWAYS welcome (and encouraged!) to have your vet check him over prior to purchase.
We are motivated to find a good home for him, as he really is a fun riding horse.
Feel free to ask any questions, or schedule a time to come out and ride him and see if he's a good fit for you!
