“Pete” is an 11 year old Belgian gelding standing 16.3 hands high. I want to start off by saying this is one of the nicest horses in the barn. He is full of personality and can take a joke! This boy picks up all feet nicely and is currently shod on the front. He will stand quietly in cross ties all day, loves to be groomed and loved on, he stands to be tacked and takes a bit with zero nonsense. Pete is a joy to have around.
Under Saddle, Pete stands to be mounted and dismounted, he will pick up all three gaits for you but prefers to take it slows.... (read more) He has a lovely sitting trot and a nice floaty canter. He will take you around the arena all day or head out for the trails and is equally as quiet either way. This boy will take the lead, ride in the middle, or follow behind in a group. He doesn’t mind if a horse is riding closely behind him or up on his tail. Pete crosses every bridge we’ve ever asked him to, crosses streams, mud, ditches, hills, tree roots and more. He watches his feet placement closely on the trails and takes his time on steep hills and rough terrain. This boy is 100% traffic safe and will safely take you across a road if you need to. He is not bothered by big trucks, motorcycles or horns.
If you thought he couldn’t get any better, he drives too! He will go single and in teams. This boy will take you through town or drive around the farm. He stops at signs and lights, backs up when need be and walks on easily when asked. He will stand all day in harness without a fuss.
Pete is really a gentle giant.
