Wingman is a 15hh, 13 year old Quarter Morgan gelding who certainly lives up to his namesake; whether you want to be in the buckles at the rodeo or need a reliable partner on the ranch, he has got your back! I can not think of one thing that I have asked this horse to do that he can not done; he has navigate even the gnarliest terrain, been roped off of, drug calves, jumps, fox hunted in staff and in first flight, trained/ridden out with the hounds, drug sleds and wheel barrows, speed events, beginner riding lessons - you name it.... (read more) He is quick footed, intelligent, steady, intelligent, willing, resilient, reliable, and constantly exceeds his riders expectations of him.
This horse has the ability to be whatever you need him to be. He a forward moving horse and has energy and try but he will pack around beginner and rate his speed. Though, I would not recommend he go to a home where his purpose is to be a beginner’s horse.
Wingman the ultimate step up horse. He has earned the nick name “gas petal” around here, when you ask him for some get up you don’t need to tell him twice, he is genuinely the fastest horse I have ever had the privilege of riding and has smoked every OTTB I put him up against. He was hauled all over Texas barrel racing and breakaway roping with the girl that owned him before me and he could absolutely assist a youth, in dominating their circuit.
He does everything a finished ranch horse is supposed to do: turns and stops on a time, is super responsive to his riders aids, automatically swaps his leads, backs up, side passes, two tracks, opens gates, ground ties, one is hand broke, etc. He has a super smooth walk, jog, and lope, and a fifth gait inherited from the Morgan which is awesome for the days we are undersaddle for long periods of time, there are many times where I’ve been incredibly grateful for it on the field.
Wingman has a rather serious personality and is incredibly devoted to his partner. He has no vices on the ground, ties, loads, bathes, picks up his feet and is a complete gentleman for the farrier and vet. I honestly can not think of a bad thing to say about this horse, and it absolutely breaks my heart to let him go, but he is a horse that needs a job and I no longer have one for him to do.
