Stacy is a DARK bay, 17.1-17.2 hh with LONG, slow, flowing strides that cover ground without losing any grace, lovely self carriage, she engages from the hind and is balanced in her head set free lunging. She would be a beautiful hunter on the foxhunting field and in the show-ring and has the mind to be a one of a kind schoolmaster once she has fully matured!
She’s truly a big girl in every sense of the word- warmblood build, leggy, big boned and simply stunning.... (read more) She has a very sweet and calm disposition, gets along with everyone in the pasture mares, geldings, retired horses, yearlings - she’s kind and respectful to all of them! Stacy really has a lovely personality that convinced even the most horse-indifferent people to adore her. She is in your pocket without being pushy, very forgiving, loves to dote on her people, and has an affinity for dogs. She will leave her food to greet a dog passing outside of her stall and can often be found away from the other horses grooming or plodding behind our livestock guardians.
She has been ridden on the trails and was an absolute pro from the get go! She has no problems leading or going out alone and has all the confidence of a seasoned fox hunter. On her first trail ride a helicopter blew right past us about 10 feet away and she didn’t even seem to notice - a lot of things have impressed me about this mare but her bravery and willingness to take her rider anywhere they want to go has been absolutely baffling, especially for a thoroughbred. I have no doubts that she would be an incredible foxhunter, she has lived on sight and walked out with hounds (she absolutely adores them) but has not yet hunted.
In the arena, Stacy is more of a push horse, but she is very willing to move forward, she has been started over fences and is schooling 2’6 - 2’9. She had graceful rhythm and form over fences from the get go, and I have no concerns about her scope. She is soft in the mouth and stays on the bit, she’s supple and very responsive to pressure from her riders hands, seat, and leg without being flighty or over sensitive to it.
She is a balanced mover, sweeping, ground covering strides, and would make a gorgeous hunter with the potential to compete in all three rings. At the same time, she is strong, brave, and trainable, and though she is naturally a long and low mover, she is willing to sit back, lift her front end and engage her whole body, so I could see her excelling in dressage or eventing as well. She picks up both leads, stops, backs, yields to leg, rides on direct and indirect rein, etc. This mare is not only willing to do anything you might want to do but is truly capable of going in any direction. It should be noted that she has not done much work in the arena recently due to moving barns, so she may need a refresher, and this is reflected in the price.
She incredibly smart and has so much try under saddle, each ride is always better than the last even if they are weeks or months apart. She is easy enough for an amateur or a handy junior to bring along.
She has had some anxiety surrounding the trailer in the past due to injuring her head stepping into a trailer a few years ago, but she has been loading and unloading great in the trailer for the past 6 months, as long as she wears a bumper helmet when loading. She ties, bathes, stands at the mounting block, walks over tarps, though obstacles, and over bridges, bridles and saddles with ease, lunges with and without a line, and absolutely loves being groomed. She is a doll for the vet however she can be impatient for the farrier, so currently she is sedated for trims. Someone with more time to work on this could definitely get her over it; she is totally fine picking her feet and never kicks or acts hostility toward the farrier, but after a while she’ll pull her leg from them or try to walk off and because she has so much leg to work with it is very disruptive.
She’s SOUND, zero maintenance, and UTD on everything.
