“Piper” is a 10yr old, 15.3-16hh, warmblood mare. Looking for a fun, all around horse with the ability to show, but safe enough to throw your husband on for trail rides?? Some words that I would use to describe this wonderful lady would be elegant, kind, quiet, regal, and just an amazing all around girl! Piper has so much going for her. She is put together just right, with a fun, loving, personality to match!
In the barn, Piper has no bad habits.... (read more) She can live in, or out, she is an easy keeper and requires no maintenance. She goes out in a mixed herd, and can also go out by herself. She is an independent horse that doesn’t get attached to others. Piper has good ground manners, and she is good for the vet and the farrier. Piper loads and trailers well. She will stand around all day long on the cross ties to be groomed, braided, bathed, tacked, etc. She is a good girl while being clipped (both body and face).
On the trails, Piper is safe, brave and laid back. I would trust throwing anyone on her for a nice relaxing trail ride. She crosses water, logs, bridges, rocks, you name it. Piper will lead, or follow, go out alone and in groups. She is independent and doesn’t need to rely on a buddy. Dogs trailing along side of her aren’t a problem at all! She is safe with traffic, bikes, wildlife, and other trail encounters. Piper is very sturdy, and sure footed. She will climb right up and down steep hills, cross deep rivers, and keep you safe. This girl absolutely loves adventures, and being out and about.
Piper rides western, english, and bareback. Her gaits are comfortable, and she is the perfect combo of whoa and go. She will ride around quiet and on the buckle, but has go when asked/ needed. She is soft in your hands, listens to voice commands, and is responsive to your seat. Piper moves off of your leg, knows how to move laterally in all three gaits, she has a lead change, neck reins, pivots, backs up, side passes, and has a good whoa. I have been riding her with the combination of english and western, and she is very versatile. She collects beautifully and easily, in all three gaits. Piper is a very intelligent horse with the urge to learn, and the willingness to try new things. She has learned to take a joke, and deal with our nonsense. Piper rides in regular snaffle. She is responsive to leg, but not sensitive.
In the ring, Piper will walk, trot, canter, she knows her leads, and jumps. She bends nicely and would make an amazing dressage partner! Piper will pop over small fences and cross rails nicely in the ring. She jumps quietly and honestly while out on the trails. She is easy and gentle over logs, and loves to jump out cross country. She would be amazing for hunter paces, paper chases, and fox hunting. I have been delaying her full listing until I got her out hunting, however life and weather just don’t want to grant me the time to take her out. I have a really great feeling that she would love hunting and do it quietly. In the ring, Piper will jump a full course with lead changes. She does get forward once the rails get raised. She is controllable, but gets excited, therefore I would not recommend an AA to use her for jumping over high fences. She is not a hunter type of jumper. I could see her being a phenomenal eventer with a professional rider. Other than jumping over large fences, I would consider her amateur friendly over all.
I have spent a lot of time with this wonderful mare. She never fails to impress me. I adore her, and she is loved by everyone. She is a special horse who deserves to find her own partner. The type of home that I would like to see my Piper find, is someone who will take her on adventures aside from arena time. Someone who enjoys ring work AND trail riding, or hunter paces, fox hunting, etc. Piper has potential in every category. Western dressage, classical dressage, fox hunting, trail riding, camping, hunter paces, paper chases, eventing, hunt seat, eq, and much more. Piper has amazing, large hooves, clean legs, zero health issues, no maintenance, no supplements, and is a super easy keeper that never asks for anything.
