Sophia is a coming 10 year old grade buckskin mare. 14.3 hands. She had 90 days professional training as a 4 year old from myself and Jenny Meisner and then has been used as a trail horse since. She has done it all from high country rides to desert sand washes. She highlines, packs gear, ponies, crosses water and bridges, and likes to be in the middle to front of the group. Excels at difficult trails where horses need to be careful with their feet and will go all day.... (read more) She is an easy keeper that has been in a irrigated pasture setting with another gelding. She is the boss mare but not mean about it but doesn't like strange horses to ride up her tail. She likes to be ridden several times a week and can be a little spooky if she is not given a job or is ridden out by herself. No buck; just quickly stops, may jump forward, or can rollback to the right in the worse case scenario. Her current owner has had her from the time she was a yearling; but doesn't have the time to ride her as often as she needs so is looking to match her to a person seeking to hit the trails or arena frequently. New rider should be an intermediate rider with soft hands and alert confidence when they ride as this will prevent 99% of spooks. Sophia is currently in a refresher course with me to remember and learn additional skills for western dressage or 4H all-around as well as being ridden out by herself like she did when she was first trained. After just a week, I can see she remembers a lot of arena skills that haven't been worked on since original training -two track, picking up leads, turns on forehand and hind end. Video is a compilation of day 1 to day 3 in training. This is a horse that will be fun to teach new skills as she loves to learn. Video at Watch Youtube Video
