Meet Blue a 13 year old, 15.1 hand blue roan Quarter Horse Gelding. AQHA Registered. Branded ranch horse from out west. This horse is as gentle and quiet as you can find one. I honestly think he’s one of the quietest ranch horses I’ve ever been around or owned. This horse has done every aspect of ranch work and was a gentleman in his 70’s trusty mount. Blue isn’t just quiet he’s also a beautiful horse with a nice head, kind eyes and that true blue roan, cowboy color.... (read more) Stocky well made gelding with good bone and really nice big hooves. I could honestly go on about this gelding all day long because he’s such a nice horse and who doesn’t love a blue roan so I guess that’s just a really nice added bonus.
Blue has been a western horse his whole life. He walks, trots, canters, neck reins, stops, stands and backs. Moves off leg and knows his leads. Very soft mouth with excellent brakes. His gaits are on the slow side, smooth and collected. Blue rides with more whoa than go and is hands down the perfect true beginners horse. He’s also safe for husbands and kids. If someone’s looking for a steady eddy confidence builder type or a horse for a kid this is the kind of horse you want. I would safely put anyone on this gelding and not have a single worry in this world. He’s not snorty, spooky or nervous in the least. Just a mellow, easy going good guy. We threw English tack on him and asked him to ride English and in true Blue fashion he sure did. He rides the exact same way and looks real good under English tack too. This is a truly versatile safe horse. Blue would go right into any lesson program packing total beginners, newbies and kids around. He would also be a perfect addition to any therapy program. This is a horse that’s really not done a whole lot of arena work but you really wouldn’t know it because he’s so honest and willing to do whatever is asked of him.
This horse is also a phenomenal trail horse and is absolutely bombproof. Most of his riding miles have been outside and it sure does show. Rides on the buckle with a nice level head, isn’t spooky and is sure footed. He goes wherever he’s asked alone or with others. Completely road, traffic, car, tractor safe. I don’t call to many spook proof but I would consider this gelding to be pretty close. Not a thing phases him. He’s seen it and done it more than likely working for a living and being on a ranch.
Now for his ground manners, they’re excellent and he’s good for everything. Clips, ties, bathes, trailers, stands to be saddled, easy to bridle, picks all 4 feet. You can leave him on cross ties, walk away and he’ll still be in the same spot and won’t be making a fuss. His stall and pasture manners are awesome and he’s one of the easiest horses to own and have around. There’s nothing bad with this horse. I wish I could find horses that look like this, act like this and ride like this everyday. Blue is a very easy keeper, requires zero maintenance and is 100% sound in every way. No vices at all. Up to date on everything. He’s currently out during the day, stalled at night, blanketed and is wearing regular front shoes. He can he turned out with others or alone. He is not a bully and he is not barn or buddy sour at all. Blue is located at our farm in Allentown NJ 08501. We do have a big indoor riding arena. I know a lot of people want to wait until spring to buy horses but these truly sound, truly quiet geldings are so hard to find and they’ll be even harder come spring time.
