Bear is a big loveable teddy bear bay gelding that is a been there-and-done that type of horse with more whoa than go. Beginner riders will have no problem riding this gelding. Bear has been used as a trail and family horse. We have recently been using him to teach two teenage girls how to ride. He carries himself very well and rides on a loose one hand neck rein, he has a good backup, and stop.... (read more) He is very smooth at the walk, has a slow trot (almost gaited), and has a regular faster trot and a canter that is nice and easy.
Bear has no problem with you carrying a flag, opening/closing gates, he will walk down streams, and over fallen trees, he is used to heavy equipment and its sounds, we have a construction company next door and he is used to all their heavy equipment (i.e. dump trucks, semi's, lawnmowers, track hoes, etc.) He has no problem walking up/down steep ditches and ravines, he will go anywhere you point him, through thick brush, in the woods with no spook. Bear will ride the same way whenever you ride him once a week, once a month, or once a year and you do not even need to warm him up.
Bear stands great while being saddled/bridled, groomed, being sprayed for flies, picking his feet, and standing still for being clipped, and mounted (from the ground or a mounting block), while standing tied, for the vet/farrier. He loads well and hauls very well. Bear is like a BIG St. Benard puppy, he wants to be loved on, and he will follow you all day long. He is easy to catch, is super gentle, and has great ground manners. He is kid and dog friendly and gets along with all of our other horses he is not dominant.
He would be a great prospect for many things such as; trail riding, mounted patrol, pack horse, pony horse, trail riding competitions, play days, drill team, barrels, poles, grand entry, parades, ranch sorting, team penning, pleasure/family horse, walk-trot, lead line, queen's contest, or as a lesson horse. He is one of the go to horses at our barn right now, any level of rider can enjoy him.
Bear is a good looking blood-red bay gelding (he is getting dapples) with a long thick mane and tail that almost touches the ground, a cute face, a kind eye, a strong thick neck, nice withers, a straight back, wide chest, and hips. He is a great size with a big bone and able to carry the larger/taller/stouter rider.
Bear is another calm, forgiving horse that will build confidence in his rider. He has a good mind, learns quickly, and has a great disposition. Bear is smart enough to learn any type of job. He will fit the novice or the pro. DON'T MISS OUT on this sweet boy!!!! If you want a big stout gentle gelding that is graceful and smooth Bear will be your forever horse.
