Since his import to the US in 2020, Bráinn found his way into the role of the “husband’s horse” for his current owner. Given his movements, this gelding could also serve as a lovely novice to intermediate level horse for those wishing to pursue Icelandic Horse Sport Competitions.
A look back at some of Bráinn’s lines reveal several noteworthy horses. His grandsire, Kappi frá Kommu was a first prize stallion that earned 9.5 for tölt and gallop and a 9 for trot. Furthermore, his extended pedigree tree links him to several impressive honor prize stallions. These include Orri frá Þúfu í Landeyjum (9.5 tölt), Ófeigur frá Flugumýri (9 tölt), Hrafn frá Holtsmúla (9 tölt) and Náttfari frá Ytra-Dalsgerði (10 pace).
Considerations:
When Bráinn first came to us for training several years ago, he had been started via strictly positive reinforcement methods. Though an excellent and innovative method of starting, it did take him some time to adapt to traditional negative reinforcement style riding.
