Derek is an almost exact copy of his dad, who is Mahogany Bay 2/3 Welsh Pony 1/3 Rocky Mountain Horse. Sire is naturally gaited and there is a possibility that Derek could be gaited as well. Derek has beautiful foot movements just like his sister Hennessey. He has a black star, don't know if it will stay as he grows, that is adorable. Derek is an absolute love bug!!! He will actually stand forever if you let him while getting his rump scratched.... (read more) LOL
Derek's disposition is actually the best I have ever seen in a miniature stallion. He is a calm boy, don't let that deter you as Derek loves to run and play with you as well. He follows anyone and is the first to greet you at the fence or gate with a nuzzle.
Derek's mum is a miniature paint with a very heavy coat and while his colouring is his father, his coat feel and thickness come from his mum.
Derek's mum is a rescue and she has given us two previous colts that are just the sweetest boys. Her previous colt is still on premises so you can see quality of personality, markings, and other traits. Derek's sire, Baldur, has DNA report from Texas A&M and you will get a copy along with Derek. I am still looking into registration for him with one of the miniature horse registries or pony registry. As he is not currently registered and I don't know if he can be registered that is explanation for cost versus his sister. Derek will be trained to lead and halter broke and like his sister we are currently doing ground work and desensitization activities. :) Although Derek really doesn't need much of that, as he is nearly bomb proof even though he is only just turned 6 months. Derek is almost completely weened, by his mum naturally as I don't force weening, and is able to go to his new home.
We can transport as well for an additional charge. :) No trailer, No problem we got ya covered :) just let me know the mileage and I can give you a quote.
Deposit for Derek is $500 and is not refundable after 7 calendar days, not business days. I can take payments, although you will not be able to take Derek before he is paid. If for any reason you can no longer care for Derek the ranch will buy him back minus 1 1/2 of the deposit, as an example if you paid $2000 the ranch would buyback at $1250.
I understand life happens and don't want to see my babies end up at auction for slaughter, so I always offer a buyback. I believe there is always a solution, and life is fluid which is why we buyback as one of many solutions.
If you have any questions or want additional photos or videos of Derek please don't hesitate to ask. If you are looking for a pair, give Derek's sister a look. The two are absolutely adorable together.
Thanks for stopping by and giving Derek a Look!!

Ringsaker Fjord and Miniature Horse Ranch and Resc
Here at Ringsaker we are a small Veteran owned horse ranch with big hearts and ideas. My husband and I are both AF vets with my husband from Desert Storm/Shield and myself from Iraqi Freedom . Here at Ringsaker we rescue and sometimes rehome the rescues. We have miniature horses and draft ponies and 6 horses that are used as therapy horses.
We are a breeding ranch, though I practice selective breeding and my mares will only have 1 foal every two years to allow for mums to heal before being in foal again.... (read more)
We love horses, believe that even if someone can't afford one they should still have access. Horses are such graceful and empathic creatures and just really want to love and be loved. Which is why we offer veterans and children to come and spend an hour with the horses for free.
