Josey is 14.2hh, 2 years old (3 in March), and filled with the mind, athleticism and ability everyone wants from a young horse. From the first ride I knew this mare was gonna be something special. She has the willingness to do right and work hard for her rider. Throw an inexperienced rider on her back and she will be sure to take care of them, throw an experienced handler on her back and she will be sure to impress them. I hauled Josey to her first Stock Horse Show in April 2023 with only 50 rides on her.... (read more) She won Reserve Grand champion overall at her first show, and received numerous compliments from others including the judge. She’s quick to turn heads with her bright expression, willingness, and ability the minute you walk into the show pen. I have hauled her to numerous stock horse shows competing against finished horses and she has earned Grand or Reserve Grand Champion at almost every show. Josey has great transitions from her extended and regular gaits. She responds quickly and willingly to the riders cues, making her a true pleasure to ride. She has a nice smooth trot, a beautiful extended trot, as well as a nice lope and extended lope. She is not lazy or hot headed, but she does have the ability to go when asked. Josey is soft in the mouth and responds quickly to light leg pressure and cues. Whether you’re asking her to spin, side pass, stop, or backup, you can trust she’s gonna respond quickly off of a light feel. Ive had Josey since she was a yearling and even as a young filly I exposed her to as many new places as possible. She’s been to loud rodeo environments, down trails with unpredictable wildlife popping out of the woods, and even to the beach. Exposing her to new places early on has made traveling to shows a breeze. Josey has the perfect combination of cow and running bloodlines including Metallic Cat, Dual Rey, and Frenchman’s Guy. She would make a phenomenal speed event horse including roping or barrel racing, or if you’d like to keep showing on her she has all the fancy buttons and preparation to continue down that path. In July of 2023 Josey competed in the Texas State 4H Horse Show 2 year old Futurity. She ran against some of the best youth trained 2 year olds in the state and easily secured a Grand champion title in the futurity. She is not buddy sour, barn sour, nor does she have any bad vices such as kicking, pawing, bucking, or rearing. She is a sweetheart to be around and is easy to get along with. She is sound, healthy, and kept up to date with deworming, coggins, and the farrier. She is an easy keeper, stands tied, loads in the trailer, stands for the farrier, and is great traveling and being stalled. Josey can be ridden through water, down trails, in loud and busy environments, and can even be rode bareback or bridless. She would be suitable for a handy youth rider, or an intermediate to advanced adult rider. Lastly, my favorite quality she has is her COW sense, this girl is naturally COWY!
