Meet Genevieve! She's currently out at pasture, so I'm guessing on her height, but I will be taping her soon. She is about 7 years old. Due to an injury before we got her, she does move a little "off", due to missing some muscle in her left hind near the gaskin muscle. It was very well healed when we got her, you can't see the scar but you can see where it's differently shaped. She is comfortable moving as a walk, trot, and canter- when I ride her I mostly feel it at a walk.... (read more) I will say that she is more whoa than go, she will canter but strongly prefers to go slower so after she gets tired she can be difficult to get her into a canter, she is more responsive moving into a canter in a straight line rather than in circles- not sure if that's her old injury or just because she's naturally a big build and not mean for agility like that. She's a very easy going canter and too lazy to run off with you. I have not tried her on barrels or anything performance, but she's just about as bombproof as they get so I don't see why she wouldn't be great at a child wanting to perform. She won't be the fastest, but then again, she's a draft- they aren't meant to be fast! She's absolutely a gentle giant, and one of our sweetest horses. She is a boss mare in the herd, but she's not mean, just in charge. She's buddied up with one of the smallest minis right now and even protects her from the other horses picking on her. Mini would be available for consideration, but is not for sale separately as of this time. (I do have other minis for sale if that spiked your interest). She does neck rein and move off of leg pressure, but sometimes needs just a little direct rein if she'd had a lot of time off. Her only vice is that if it has been months since she was ridden last she can get slightly buddy sour- the worst that she will do is fling her head once or twice and try to turn around, but she won't do anything other than that, it's extremally manageable and she'll quit after a warm up. I don't have an arena where I am currently located, I am comfortable showing her here in an open pasture, or I can haul her to a nearby arena for a serious buyer. She's a happy and healthy big girl! Easy keeper.
