Percheron/TB mare, 13 years old, 15hh
This mare is a great all-around horse! Sweet as the day is long, she is currently being used predominantly for trail riding, dressage and jumping, with experience in cross country jumping as well.
She is schooling 2-2’3 with her owner but has jumped up to 3’3” coops with ease. She is all business when it comes to jumping and has been exposed to a wide variety of jumps and elements and has never refused or shied away.... (read more)
On trails, she is predominantly hacked out alone and is completely safe and consistent. She has been exposed and desensitized to all forms of wildlife and cows and will cross bridges, ditches and water with no issues. This mare has gone everywhere I have pointed her nose without a single complaint.
She is very fit and ridden consistently 4-5 days a week. She is sound with no maintenance needs. She is shod on all four but has excellent feet and could be a barefoot candidate should you choose to go that route. She is current on all her vaccines and dental care and gets regular body work. Her manners are impeccable and she is well mannered to the vet and farrier. She stands tied quietly for as long as you wish. She self-loads on to trailer and hauls quietly and has ton of off-property experience both for trail riding and showing.
She is a tad more go than whoa but can be ridden on the buckle with no issue. She’s an obedient, kind mare who is content with a leisurely walk or a brisk gallop if you choose. She’s an absolute mountain goat on the trail and will tackle the toughest terrain with gusto and grit. I have been training her to participate in competitive trail riding so she’s very fit and ready to drop right into those competitions if you want. She could also go the western route and has been ridden western extensively so swapping tack is no issue.
I have ridden her in many hunter paces and shown her extensively and successfully at the local level. I’ve fox hunted her several time as well, in the jumping flights and while she's a good hunter, she does get a little jiggy in the intense herd environment of the fox hunt, as many horses do.
She’s not the flashiest or most beautiful horse but her willing disposition and desire to please her rider more than makes up for what she lacks in pizzazz and flash. If you’re looking for a fun and steady riding partner, this is your mare.
