Goose is a 2022 AQHA/APHA gelding. His sire, DGS The Entertainer, achieved Top Ten in Hunter Under Saddle at both APHA & NSBA World Shows as well as Reserve World Champion in Open Hunter.... (read more) His grandsire, HBF Iron Man, is a five time World Champion in Hunter Under Saddle and Western Pleasure, and sire to AQHA, APHA and NSBA World Champions. Goose is a descendent of Indian Artifacts who was an AQHA World Champion, AQHA Superior Earner, and Congress Reserve Champion. Other notable bloodlines include Invitation Only, AQHA All Time Leading Sire of Point Earner and sire of 210 World, Congress, and Reserve Champions. Goose’s dam is a granddaughter to A.P Indy, a Breeder’s cup and Belmont stakes winner. Double Dutch is a descendent of Secretariat, who is widely known as a Triple Crown Champion. Other notable bloodlines of his dam include Mr. Prospector, who has sired 181 stakes winners including winners of the Kentucky Derby, Preakness and Belmont Stakes.
This good-natured yearling is a part of our Equine Youngstock Training and Marketing course and has been desensitized to many novel stimuli and obstacles. Goose stands calmly for tying, picking up feet and grooming. He was been taught to cross a wide array of footings such as wooden platforms and tarps and loads into a stock type trailer. By the time of sale we anticipate he will additionally carry a saddle and wear a bridle, as well as lunge at the walk, trot, and canter.
The following paperwork will be provided in his sale portfolio: AQHA and APHA registration papers, health record with vaccine, deworming and farrier records since birth, current Coggins, and a health certificate if traveling out of state lines.
Virginia Tech Equine
The Virginia Tech Campbell & Smithfield Horse Units are located on either side of route 460 between the Virginia Tech exits. These farms are integrated into a quiet corner of campus and offer many opportunities to Virginia Tech students and employees. Our Campbell Unit houses 20-30 equitation program horses that are used in equitation lessons and for our on-campus hunter and dressage teams. The Smithfield Unit is home to our research and teaching herd.... (read more) This includes our breeding program which raises AQHA and sport horse youngstock. We currently have 6 AQHA & thoroughbred broodmares with all foals, yearlings, and 2 yr olds being used for teaching equine training and marketing.
Our mission is to promote a higher understanding of the study of equine science to the students of Virginia Tech. We also strive to produce quality foals each year to raise, train and sell them to good homes.
