The calmest young horse I have ever had the pleasure of owning, he has the attitude of a 30 year old horse… he is a true horse that could be considered safe for the entire family, if he was just a few years older!... (read more)
Zorro has his entire life ahead of him and he will only get better with time, he is a true rare find! We have introduced Zorro to several new things since being with us and he has exceeded in every obstacle we have thrown his way, he’s a horse that takes to new things naturally and with confidence, Zorro is a non spooky horse from turkeys flying up beside him in the hay fields while riding to tractors & ATVS meeting him on the country roads you don’t have to worry abut him jumping out from under you or running away, he has always taken to new things like a perfect gentleman, he just has a natural gentle demeanor! Zorro is a smooth gaited, sure footed trail horse deluxe that will pick his way through rocks going down a hill and when you come out to a cleared path you can give him a simple nudge or “smooch” & he will transition from a flatfoot walk to his smooth running walk gait Zorro is an absolute dream to trail ride he’s not pulling against the bit wanting to hurry & get back to camp or the barn he actually enjoys being out on the trails doing his job!
He will load and unload on a trailer. Zorro has been started and trained by a professional with natural horsemanship methods creating a human animal relationship with respect and trust from our horses! We have personally trail ridden Zorro several miles in trails and it doesn't get too steep or rough,he will cross or go anywhere you point his head without any hesitation crossing downed trees cut up, water, mud puddles, ditches & the rocky steep terrains that we have here in Southeastern Kentucky, while still being sure footed taking his time with every step completely trusting the rider to guide the way! Has been ridden along the country roads around our home where he has encountered farm equipment, other livestock running alongside the road(cows, horses, donkeys, & goats jumping around), dogs running out barking from all directions, loud vehicles passing & ATV's. He is also well behaved getting a haircut, taking baths, tacking up, loading & unloading in a trailer and stands quietly for the farrier.
Of course NO bad habits/vice we have ever seen out of him(rearing up, kicking, bucking, biting, barn weaving, cribbing or barn/buddy sour) These type of issues with horses never make it to our program! I can go on all day talking about this horse he’s a true gentleman that is definitely a once in a lifetime horse that will only get better with time, he already has so much potential for a young horse! Call today and schedule to take Zorro out on a real trail ride with us here in Southeastern Kentucky we can leave directly from our farm and go directly into a section of the Daniel Boone National Forest!

Valley Mist Stables
Here at Valley Mist Stables our passion is trail riding and working with good quality, gentle well-mannered horses that already have potential. We are very careful as to what we buy to take and resale. The majority of our horses we take them in at a young age starting them in our training program, Most of our older horses come from individuals out in the country or horses we personally know and have ridden with in trails, if we know the horse & have trail ridden with it before we still take it in and try it with OUR ways of qualifying for resale, We keep each of our potential sale horses for several months and they get at least 60 consistent days of professional training!... (read more) We do not work in a round pen, we take our horses out to the wide open world where they will encounter everything a horses needs to see! We take our horses on trail rides testing them in all kinds of different situations like how they handle in tight dangerous spots in trails like between a downed tree next to a river, We try our horses about anyway you can think of with a horse making sure to be absolutely safe & sane trail ready...busy traffic, atv’s, bicyclists, hikers, wild animals(Deer darting out,Turkeys flying up), crossing water, bridges, fallen logs, farm equipment...etc. We like to make sure our horses can handle being ridden on roads as well, we leave our home & ride the country roads around here where the horses will encounter busy traffic(semis, buses, motorcycles),ATV's, several dogs running out barking under their feet, other livestock(cows, donkeys, goats, llamas etc.)& loose horses running out beside them, As well as them scary yard ornaments, blow up holiday decorations. We also make sure they can ride well with other horses , they have to not mind being in the back of the group, middle or leading the line & won't get excited stopping to wait behind or in front by themselves, we also spend time riding our horses in trails all by themselves making sure they handle exactly the same as with a friend along! We can promise if a horse has a MAJOR problem considering bucking, rearing up, kicking, biting, running away or cold backed it will NEVER be for resale as well as barn weavers, cribbers or barn/buddy sour horses!!!
I am not going to tell you our horses are 100% bombproof and won't do the first thing wrong they are LIVING ANIMALS, but I can say they have made it through OUR qualifications & got approved, most of our horses are sold to beginners, older people or people that have never ridden a horse before!
We offer any potential buyer to try before they buy & what we mean by this a group of us saddle up at our farm & directly go riding in trails (The trails surrounding us are for intermediate trail riders, KY trails are somewhat rough). We want our customers 100% Satisfied before leaving with their new trail buddy & we look forward to them becoming repeat customers!!
