Ringo is a sweet and handsome 11-year-old grade gelding looking to be someone’s #1. He is 15.1 hands tall and a smooth ride. His ground work is excellent and he has buttons under saddle. He is an awesome trail horse and makes trail rides enjoyable; he handles all the obstacles (hills, wooden bridges, dog walkers, bikers, water, mud, etc.) nicely and is great in the arena. He could go in so many directions.... (read more) I could see him excelling at ranch riding or trail classes with a little fine tuning. He was started over cross rails in an English saddle by an experienced youth before he came to us and looked good doing it. He is quiet to ride out by himself down the road or out in the fields, he is not buddy or barn sour and won't go faster than you ask. He does well turned out or in a stall and is low in the pecking order; he just wants to get along with everyone. My (very) inexperienced/beginner mom purchased him last year and he was just a little misrepresented and not quite the confidence builder she needed. I have worked and rode him off and on over the last year and he has been a perfect gentleman. I have taken him through the Downunder Horsemanship Fundamentals level. I’ve enjoyed having him here but already have a couple younger ones that need my attention. When I started working with him, he was not overly confident himself but has really become a quiet and willing partner. He just needs a more confident and experienced rider than what my mom is. He is not spooky on the ground or under saddle but on the rare occasion he encounters something he is unsure of; he just needs someone willing to let him study it and encourage him through it. He is a fast learner and wants to please. The video was taken last fall and I had done some groundwork with the whip, rope, and flag but had never used them on his back until the video. I also had never ridden him bareback in a halter and lead rope until the video; you can see how well he takes it all. This year I have spent more time riding him outside and taking him trail riding. An experienced older youth could get along fine with him. If you are interested, I will be happy to tell you everything about him. Recently trimmed, up-to-date on vaccines, teeth, and just had a chiropractic adjustment. Requires no maintenance.
