* LC LEO LADY BILL* A.K.A. "Ella" is a 2019 model AQHA registered steely blue roan SUPER mare with all the body and mind you could ask for. Her first 3 rides were done by renowned trainer, Guy McLean at the Southern Equine Expo in 2022 and her training was finished at McCollum Performance Horses @ Breakaway Ranch in Springfield, TN. She goes back to horses like Leo Hancock Hayes who was the last breeding son of the famous Blue Valentine, and White Lightning Ike, own son of Driftwood Ike, a AAA sire and cowboy legend horse.... (read more) One of the most well-rounded horses I have had the pleasure of knowing - she's athletic, levelheaded, intelligent, and is a pretty and delicate mover for how well she is built. Standing at 14.3 hands, Ella is thicker than a bowl of oatmeal and continues to fill out and muscle up as her training continues. She moves like a 4-year-old with the disposition and mind of your trusty old go-to mount on the ranch. She has taught young riders how to ride the gallop and she has taught experienced riders how to be better on feel. Stout and square, she is flashy both in confirmation and color, with her deep, true-blue roan always standing out in the show ring. She is very light to ride, and will pivot quick off a heel or a touch of the rein. She has been started in reining, and will tuck her butt under for a quick stop and pivot the forequarters both directions. We have used Ella to sort and push cows, and she is honest and hard working. She will ride out by herself, and is a sure footed trail horse. She has been shown in local trail competitions with a 10 year old rider. She has been shown in Ranch pleasure and generally sweeps 1st place in all her classes. W/T/C are easy to maneuver through, and she has a western pleasure type slow trot that is a dream to sit. Strong distinction between her collected and extended trot which is efficient and ground covering. Will pick up correct leads on both sides without fail. Will work gates, and you can throw a rope and dally off her (we have not done with live cows but she has dragged a number of different things). Confident and trusting with trail obstacles. Stands for the farrier (shoes on front only), loads, ties, cross ties, bathes, and is gentle and easy enough on the ground with good enough manners we let our 4-year-old students lead and groom her. She is a true lady. No vices, no buck, kick, or rear and is typically at the top of the totem pole in the herd. She is an easy keeper and not hard to keep weight on. She is more woah than go and can get on the lazy side if she does not have a confident rider. She would be best suited in a family that has horse experience and is interested in continuing her show career. She is truly a once in a lifetime horse.
Ella can be seen and tried at Breakaway Ranch in Springfield, TN.
