Mouse is a super nice little gelding, I honestly have just been debating on keeping him. He is very kind, has absolutely not a mean bone. No buck, rear, kick, bite or any other BS. Mouse was used to gather horses for most of the summer last year. He's no stranger to work, and has a can do attitude.... (read more) He's not hot or chargy, but you don't have to prod him along either. Has had a rope thrown on him, but probably needs a little schooling on holding something to doctor. Roped a couple of goats and he did well, but obviously there is a bit of a weight difference between a goat and a bovine. I ride Mouse with a snaffle and wear spurs. He is soft mouthed, responsive, starting to cross over really well and he stops hard. Doesn't have a one hand neck rein, but I can maneuver him with one hand just fine, if you catch my meaning. He gets better about moving off your spur every time I ride him, starting to side pass well, moves his hind end and shoulder around decent. Mouse really handles time off well, stepped on him this spring after about 6 months off. No hump what so ever, the worst thing he did was stop and stand when asked to leave the barn. Nothing broncy or stupid. Mouse stands tied, loads, grooms, saddles, and bridles well.
Now for the not so great stuff:
Mouse is missing his right eye, it doesn't seem to effect his riding what so ever (as long as you pay attention and don't steer him wrong, he will do what he's asked every time)
But on the ground I always make sure I touch him or talk to him on that side as to not spook him. He has no spook riding him, but if he can't see you he moves to look. He's absolutely honest about it. But that being said I don't think he's a true beginner horse. Anyone with some experience can make him comfortable real fast. He absolutely loves to be petted and he actually makes an effort to do what you want.
Hes not the best to catch, won't run you over or anything stupid. But if he's with the other horses generally he's gotta go a couple laps to think about it.
Ive trimmed his feet twice, he's not great with his right hind. He's never been shod.
