This gelding was started slow and methodical with 18 months of groundwork done before being ridden. He was to be my personal riding horse, but with three businesses, I just cannot find the time to justify keeping a horse strictly for trail and pleasure riding. This guy would like to have someone who has the time to be with him on a more frequent basis. He is extremely intelligent, loves attention, level headed, and eager to be a part of a team. Unfortunately, my free time comes in sporadic bursts.... (read more) He was sent out of state to a trainer late in 2019 to have groundwork done. He stayed until May of 2021 due to Covid restrictions. During that time, he was worked with regularly in hand. He learned to drag tires, carry a saddle and dummy rider, had tarps draped over him, pool noodles tied to his saddle, and flags waved above his head and attached to his saddle. He came home in May of 2021 ready to ride.
I have ridden him in both English and western saddle as well as bareback. He is a horse that does not NEED to be lunged prior to riding. He has ridden consistently every time I have pulled out of paddock. He was ridden for 30 days last fall by a 13-year-old, until the weather turned cold. She had him going walk, trot, and canter over different terrains as well as thru shallow water. So far this year, I have only been able to find a handful of days in which to ride him, and he was amazing both times. He is a great horse; he just needs to find a human who doesn't have so many outside responsibilities. I am asking what I have out of pocket in training. Will consider a reasonable offer to a great home.
