Modern day Friesian horses are traditionally all black in color and can be used in harness or ridden under saddle. However, not all Friesians are black and there are a number of breeders who are breeding Tobiano and Pinto Friesians. The breed is becoming a lot more popular in the dressage ring and as a riding horse because of the jet black color, high stepping gaits, powerful and muscular frame.
