Equine Haven Ltd is a full-service boarding facility 25 minutes East of Calgary. Hunter, jumper, dressage, western (pleasure and dressage), barrel racing and mountain trail lessons, top quality boarding, and affordable recovery care.
At Equine Haven, the physical and mental well-being of every horse is our top priority. That is why we believe in complete care regardless of an animal's level of board. This includes, at no extra charge, the comfort of blanketing for Alberta's fast-changing weather, and a customized feed plan for each individual horse.... (read more) We also believe in taking care of our boarders; everyone has busy lives and time spent with one's horse should be spent riding, training, and bonding. To this end, we are happy to schedule routine appointments with our businesses' preferred veterinary clinic and farrier. We will also attend your animal throughout these visits without charging a handling fee.
Our stalls are 12'x10', with a few 10'10', making them spacious enough for large breeds such as warmbloods and draft crosses. Hygiene is of paramount importance in any facility but even more so in one that provides recovery care services; this is why all of our boarding stalls are cleaned in the morning and picked out before bed, with water buckets cleaned daily. Our rubber floors not only provide extra comfort and joint relief, but they are also completely sealed making them far more hygienic than conventional stall mats. We also use kiln-dried, pelletized bedding that is dust-free, produces far less waste, and requires less labour to maintain. This makes it healthier for your horse and the environment; not to mention the cost savings which can be passed on to the customer.
Every horse is an individual athlete and as such has individual nutritional needs, there is no one-size-fits-all approach to equine nutrition. Sadie Turko has been actively involved in the research and development of equine nutrition including authoring an eight-course program for Red River Community College in Winnipeg Manitoba. Sadie will, in consultation with the owner, design a feed program for every horse that will include complete feed and four hay feedings per day included in the cost of board. Many common supplements are also available at cost.
An equestrian center is more than just a collection of buildings and services, it is a community. A community of people from all walks of life who are brought together by their passion for horses. As such, we strive not only to make our facility a haven for equines but for those that love them too, a rest from the pressures of the modern world, a place to strengthen and revitalize our minds and bodies. Our community is built on respect, mutual support, recognition that everyone has something to contribute, and that we can all learn from one another.
