I would like to tell you about a little known rescue operation. Let me introduce you to Meadowcrest Farm, which is an equine boarding and rescue facility. Sharon Lefarth and her husband Robert own and operate Meadowcrest Farm, which is located just south of Pacific MO. This is about a 40 to 50 minute drive from different parts of St. Louis and St. Louis counties. This is a HORSE RESCUE farm that is entirely funded by the two of them. Abandoned horses and ponies that are in an emaciated health condition are rescued, as well as rescued at slaughter horse auctions.... (read more) Horses that people just don’t want any longer and people that just can’t afford their horse are also rescued. They have around 60 horses on their farm, and in order to help them fund their operation, they offer adoption and leases, and many other services which has been very slow this year. They appreciate any volunteers who would like to help out around the farm, which by the way, may give the volunteer some free riding time, or training. Donors of monthly donations are very instrumental in the help with feed, vets, farrier and chiropractic services. Also, grain, hay, horse blankets, and other tack are very much appreciated and in need.
Weekends are fairly busy with leased horses, so to help things along they offer one or two day leases per week on a Tuesday, Wednesday or Thursday, for only $50 to $100 per month…WOW! The horse you lease is yours for the day. This not only helps with much needed revenue, but gives the horses needed exercise. Other services they provide are training horses and people from beginners to competition pros in both Western and English style, including hunters and jumpers in their inside and outside arenas. And of course pony rides. Riding is also great therapy for building ones confidence and balance, and to just be in the great outdoors…to name just a few..
There are many activities through the year including a pot-luck dinner, bonfire and hayrides. Scavenger hunts with gifts for the children. Riding trips to Queeny Park and others, charity events, also with pony rides for the kids. They are for hire to do Weddings, Birthdays and many other events with horse and pony rides. There are many photo opportunities on horseback at such places like Faust Park. Sharon and Robert are providers for Horses4heros. Veterans and first responders have special activities such as those with PTSD and other associated and physical issues.
Boarding rates range from $250.00 per month for a paddock with a shelter and all the hay they can eat.to $350.00 per month for a full care stall.
Please call Sharon at 314-540-5330 instead of using Facebook Messenger for any questions about how you can help with adoption or leasing…volunteering, donating, or any other concerns. Meadowcrest farm is a 501c3 corporation, and all donations are tax deductible. Thank you for reading. If you love horses as much as Sharon and Robert… please get involved.
