I am a small farm and ride western only. I am a nurse by day and a cowgirl otherwise. As for my livestock, I use my horses for Trail Riding, Barrels, Poles, Speed Events and Playdays. I am a mounted reserve officer for Johnson County. My horses all show in parades, mounted search and rescue events, Fort Worth Stock Show parade, Fort Worth Stock Show Grand Entries. I have participated with Drill Team while in North Carolina (Carousel Paints and their cowgirls).... (read more) I also ride with the 40 something cowgirls (new to this). I have been a sponsor/host for the American Competitive Trail Horse Association in Tennessee and have competed in the same, including the America's Favorite Trail Horse competition in Oxford, North Carolina(tough competition there!!).
I enjoy roping on a couple of my horses (though I am just learning), team penning, and sorting as well. They are very broke and de-spooked due to the multiple events I participate in. I don't take in unbroken horses (too old to bounce these days and blood thinners don't help:-)!) but I don't mind horses with issues. If one is not able to be ridden, I will utilize some great cowboys to help.
I am NOT a horse trader. I AM honest. If I say a horse is something, you can take it to the bank! I guarantee what I say and sell and will tell you upfront if a horse has a problem. I appreciate the value of my name and wish to keep my reputation honorable. I know a lot of horse traders are out there and they disgust me! I have references and plenty of folks that can vouch for my riding and my horses.
Occasionally, I take in a rescue or two (always have and always will) to try and rehab them or find them a forever home with a good family.
I have always had a ton of horses and have now started downsizing due to my daughter leaving Texas and going to North Carolina for college. She was very helpful in maintaining all the herd and is missed terribly! I keep one or two mounts for myself and the others are projects that I have or have had for years that I sell. The ones I have listed now have been with me over ten years except the Fox Trotter. To sell my "kids" is tough, so don't kick the tires. I sell at a valued price and wont budge because you think you can beat any deal out there. I'd rather keep them than give them away and a good home, inspected by me, is an absolute must. I prefer first right of refusal on all my horses too. If you don't want them, I would like the option back so I can home them appropriately.
